Hidden Treasures Dinner Auction
Over the past several years we have been praying at Skybacher Ministries that God would take us to the “Next Level”. Soon after that we established a fundraising committee and they came up with the Valentine’s Dance and the Rubber Duck Derby. This year we decided to add and try a dinner auction, so on Saturday May 5th we held the first ever Hidden Treasures Dinner Auction. Nearly 25 couples came and participated in the event where couples were asked to bring a covered dish or dessert, and one new unused or slightly used item for auction.
What an entertaining night! Chuck Spiker was the auctioneer and he got the bidding started right away on things like a Penguins Malkin Jersey to a basket of Meat Cuts. One way or another everyone left smiling and hopefully with a greater picture of just what Skybacher Ministries is all about. The night did not end there, but couples who wanted to could stay and play volleyball, which completed and amazing night out.
Thank you to everyone who participated in and made this event possible. A huge thank you to the Fundraising Committee! Great job all around and let’s do it again next year!

A Blackout Takes Over The Dodgeball Smackdown
This past Saturday we finished up the 2011/2012 Skybacher Tournament Season with the Dodgeball Smackdown! Five teams battled it out throughout the night. In the end Team Blackout would narrowly escape with victory over Team Sha Boing Boing of Ohio U.P. Church, to take home the title. There was tons of only a teeny bit of blood, lots of sweat, and very few tears. At the break students were asked about their beliefs and were encourage to give their lives fully to God. At least eight students made commitments that night, which brings us far greater joy than any dodgeball!
The next day it was the elementary and middle school’s turn. We had 5 middle school teams and 3 elementary smash, duck, dive, and dodge. A team called the Watermelon Panthers would take home the middle school title. As is always the tradition, the night ended with a showdown of the parents vs. the kids. The kids seemed to keep multiplying and the parents stood no chance. It was another great night of Good Times, Good Sports, and Good News!!
